Love at First Invite™ offers three different methods for printing your invitations: digital, thermography, and letterpress. Each process produces a completely different and unique effect. Whether you select digital, thermography, or letterpress to print your invitations, each process has its features. Here is a brief description of the three different printing methods.
Digital Solid Ink: Digital is the most common and cost-effective form of printing. We take it one step further with Solid Ink printing. The non-toxic ink is resin-based, similar to a crayon. Ink is instantly fused onto the paper using heat and pressure. It is a green process, as there are no cartridges to throw away. Digital printing is fast, as many multiples can be created quickly. It also requires very little setup time and last minute changes can be made with relative ease. The quality of digital printing is not as high as offset printing, but the difference between the two products is often unnoticeable. It is not archival in nature and the colors will fade over time. This process is very quick with a week turnaround, with rush printing also available. Digital allows for unlimited colors in printing with no extra cost.

Thermography: This process is sometimes called “imitation engraving”. It produces raised type using heat. Thermography is made the same as offset printing, with an extra step at the end. There are plates made with the reversed image, and ink is applied to the plates. A special powder is added to the ink used for printing. The printed ink is then heated and melted into a solid mass, which creates a raised surface. The final result is similar to that of the engraving method, but it is a quicker and less expensive process. Thermography creates a distinctive raised look, and adds a distinguished and elegant touch to printed materials. This process is more expensive than digital, but less expensive than letterpress. Turnaround is usually 2-3 weeks for this method. Thermography is priced per ink color, as a separate plate is made for each color.
Average Love at First Invite price= only $7 per set
Letterpress: Letterpress is the oldest method of printing, developed by Gutenberg in the mid 15th century, this process creates an image by pressing an inked raised metal (or poly) plate into a sheet of paper, creating a recessed image. This process entails a great deal of preparation, there is a higher setup cost, which makes is inefficient for low-quantity runs, but very cost-effective for high-quantity runs. This process also takes longer to print, 3-4 weeks on average. Letterpressed pieces are a unique and beautiful and the papers are luxurious. It is a one-of-a-kind way to wow you're guests and it's very archival to last a long time. Letterpress is priced per ink color, as a separate plate is made for each color.

We recently teamed up with some amazingly talented ladies for a design challenge at Utterly Engaged in Orange County. Amanda at In The Now Weddings and Lauryl Lane from Lauryl Lane Floral Artistry are two extremely creative ladies. We were blessed to work with them! For the "paper" goods there was much more than paper involved! We designed a fireplace graphic to be etched into lucite, along with lucite menus. We designed tags for specially blended teas and pennant flags for the hot cocoa. This shoot was also featured over on Junebug Weddings and Elizabeth Anne Designs! It was a blast to design and I just love how warm & innovatively modern the final design looks. Enjoy!

The Oak invitation is outdoorsy and rich, yet simple. It speaks of a simply natural wedding with an outdoor reception, or an event surrounded by large oak trees. The custom-illustrated oak tree portrays stability and strength, accented by the pop of fern-colored lettering, feels simple and easy and not over-done or worked. Raw natural linen 100% FSC certified recycled paper is a perfect medium. Any outdoor event as well as any significance with an oak tree wedding would be perfect for this design.

The Shabby Chic contrasts vintage and ornate details with a soft and natural touch. It is perfect for the couple who would like to marry the two worlds into a completely unique style. The golden sunflower stripes mimic the sun's rays on a beautiful spring day. The wrought-iron details are a fancy touch as if in a secret garden or estate. The feeling this invitation creates is light, airy and magical, but holds on to the formal touch.

The Pen & Ink invitation is natural and organic, yet elegant. It speaks of a rustic wedding with an outdoor reception, or a historic indoor space with lots of aged wooden details. The plum hand-inked flower creates an artistic touch, accented by the pop of woodsy moss. The two colors create a playful balance between rustic and beauty in this design. Raw natural linen is the perfect accent to allow the colors to truly shine. Anything natural and artistic would pair well with this design.

The Romance invitation exemplifies all things soft and romantic. Soft hues with pops of blush pink and dark navy make it traditional with a modern twist- perfect for the classic bride who is looking to be unique. The invite evokes elegance and perfectly suits a beautifully classic venue for a sit down dinner reception. The blush pink brings in the delicate romance, while the navy serves as a beautiful contrast and creates a tailored look. Gold accents bring back in the regal feel. Peonies and branches are used to bring together classic and natural style with a bit of contemporary twist.
